Below, you’ll find answers to the most common questions about our services, payroll, and how we support both clients and employees.
Consumer Directed Services (CDS) in Texas is a program that allows individuals with disabilities to take a more active role in managing their own care. Under this model, individuals (or their designated representatives) become the “employer” of their caregivers, giving them the freedom to hire, train, supervise, and set schedules for the care they receive. CDS is available through various Texas Medicaid Waiver programs
Once you’re enrolled in a Medicaid Waiver programs, reach out to your Service Coordinator. They can help guide you through the process of transitioning to CDS and answer any questions about your specific needs. They will assist you in choosing an FMSA (that’s us!) who will help you Consumer Direct your care.
Programs that can be Consumer Directed in Texas include Star Plus, Star Kids, MDCP, HCS, Texas Home Living, CLASS, DBMD, Primary Home Care and Star Kids Foster Care.
EAK offers comprehensive support to clients self-directing their home care services, including payroll processing, billing, case coordination, and training.
Employees can access pay stubs and annual tax forms through the Employee Self Service (ESS) portal. Instructions for creating an ESS profile are available on the Payroll Services page.
EAK handles all necessary billing functions for CDS clients, including verifying monthly insurance eligibility and submitting billing to the client’s insurance company.

The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a lunch closure from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
